The previous image, taken in 1911, shows ladies with hats, parasols, and long dresses. By 1937, the date of this photo, above, women are wearing sleeveless dresses, men are in shirt sleeves, completely gone are the parasols and half the group is without hats. Silver Line – Take the subway to South Station and transfer to the Silver Line (the Silver Line also travels through the Back Bay). The Silver Line departures are less than every five minutes to the World Trade Center stop, the location of our dock. The trip from South Station to World Trade Center takes only four minutes. Our ships depart from the EAST side of the World Trade Center (the right side of the World Trade Center as you face the harbor). In all of the 180 years of there being a ferry running between Boston and Provincetown, NO steamship company, before us, has been fortunate enough to have provided service longer than 26 years.

The vessels are highly maneuverable and are operating well below their service capabilities. We will adjust boarding times in order to better ensure decreased dockside congestion and social distancing between passengers waiting to board. Parking lots and garages are not owned or run by Bay State Cruises and we have no control over the rates and policies of the owners or managers of the lots and garages. We offer this price information in hopes of aiding passengers with their travel plans but have no influence over the parking businesses’ rates, policies, or the frequency with which either may change.
Total time from your airport terminal curb to our dock, once aboard the bus, is approximately 14 minutes. Parking – Seaport Parking Lots $27 – $36 per car per day with overnight rates costing more (sometimes more, sometimes a little less). Underground parking is available at the Seaport Hotel, directly across the street from our docks and ticket office with rates of $35 for any car parking there between 12 and 24 hours.

One block inland is the the new and very large South Boston Waterfront Parking Center for slightly less money. Upon docking in Ptown in 1973, the PROVINCETOWN ties up and prepares to disembark its passengers. Apart from the dramatic differences in fashion, this photo depicts a nearly identical scene as the ones from earlier in this album, from the 1920s and 30s. The DOROTHY BRADFORD was operated by the Cape Cod Steamship Company from 1911 to 1937.
The LONGFELLOW, pictured here in 1890, operated until 1902. In the background is Provincetown and two of the hundreds of fishing schooners that called on Provincetown regularly during its heyday as a fishing port. We encourage those who also love to be around boats and the waterfront, have an enthusiasm for leaning into their work, and have an upbeat demeanor in general to apply for a position with us.
Once purchased, TenPasses have no expiration date, and may be used with any ferry reservation involving two or fewer passengers. Each of a TenPass's ten trips covers one ferry ride for one passenger. So, for example, two passengers using a new TenPass with a round-trip reservation would have four trips deducted from the pass's initial ten trips, leaving six trips to use later. This picture, and the one immediately following, are fascinating for how they show the dramatic change in fashion that took place in the 26 years separating the photos. Bay State Cruises is proud to have provided passenger vessel service on Boston Harbor since the 1960s. We are a tightly knit group of hard working folks who care a great deal about what we do on the water and how we do it. With the most sophisticated engines and ride control available, the PIV is the greenest ferry on Massachusetts Bay, and among the most comfortable. At the top of the ramp, just outside of the tunnel exit, take a left onto Seaport Blvd. Our dock, World Trade Center, is .6 miles down the road on the left. We are on the right (East) side of the World Trade Center Pier as you face the harbor. Tickets for cruises must be picked up on the evening of the cruise from our ticket office.
