DJ and Chowder are attracted to Jenny, who kisses DJ on the lips and hugs both boys (Chowder claims, “She grabbed my butt”). Chowder is a latch-key kid whose mother is cheating on his father with her personal trainer. In a gross display, Bones pretends to tongue-kiss one of DJ’s stuffed animals, then tears it apart. DJ’s dad confesses to, as a boy, using binoculars to look at attractive female neighbors. As crisp orange leaves blanket DJ’s suburban neighborhood the day before Halloween, his portly pal Chowder ponders what costume he’ll wear on the big day. But DJ is preoccupied with other things, specifically a cranky neighbor who bolts from his rickety house to chase children off his property and take their toys.
Role in the Film
Although, considering they've been working all night, they decide to do it, just for old times sake. As DJ's parents are going out of town and returning Halloween night, Chowder accidentally runs into the back of the car, wearing a Halloween mask. He shows DJ that he just bought a new basketball, and asks about his plans for Halloween. While throwing his ball, Chowder inadvertently hits himself in the face.
Meeting Jenny

Chowder disagrees with DJ's beliefs, and crawls up to the house and rings the doorbell; the house awakens, revealing itself to be a monster, and tries to eat Chowder. Upon noticing she is heading right towards Nebbercracker's house, they run out to warn her, but Chowder "accidently" trips DJ and they watch Jenny be brutally mutilated by the merciless house. Chowder turns back time because he has to have DJ have a love interest, so the time-line commences as if they rescued her. When the cops don't believe them either, Chowder, DJ, and Jenny go to Reginald "Skull" Skullinski for answers. He explains that he has heard about human souls and spirits possessing and merging with man-made structures, turning them into monsters, and that to kill the possessed house, they have to strike at the heart.
The deceitful Zee acts sweet until she knows DJ’s parents are gone, at which time she morphs into her punked-out, abusive self. She even conspires with Jenny to cheat DJ’s parents out of the emergency cash they left for her. Dogs urinate on a lawn and a lit jack-o-lantern (thus extinguishing it). Characters call each other “moron,” “loser,” “dork” and “porky.” Urination jokes employ the word “pee” several times, while Chowder (to impress his friends) insolently shouts into a dead phone, “Dad, why don’t you kiss my hairy butt! ” Inappropriate expressions extend to “oh my god,” “crap” “screwed,” “I suck” and a comment about eating vomit. [Spoiler Warning] Trapped in a squad car, the three children get yanked into the house.

When both DJ and Chowder saw Jenny delivering chocolates, both fell in love with her, until they saw he going to Nebbercracker's haunted house but the two boys saved her before she was eaten. Chowder and Jenny's relationship started out as rocky as Jenny finds Chowder to be immature and eccentric. But as time passes, Chowder and Jenny grew to be close friends. Chowder endorses Tales From the Crypt and makes flatulence noises with his armpits. For the most part adults in the film are either absent, incompetent or nasty, giving tweens little incentive to rely on them when trouble arises. We’re shown a bottle of urine as the boys argue about who generated it.
Charles (also known as Chowder) is the deuteragonist of the 2006 film Monster House. Chowder is one of the 3 main playable characters in the video game, along with DJ and Jenny. Each time the titular two-story serial killer claims another victim, I heard unprepared little ones in the audience whimper louder or wail to the point of distraction. Chowder steals mass quantities of cough syrup from his father so that he can “drug” the haunted house before entering it.
As DJ and Chowder argue about their ideas, and that Chowder risked his life for DJ for stealing drugs for him and DJ says that it was Chowder's idea to make DJ retrieve Chowder's ball back and DJ then hastily heads for home. As he does, he nearly gets run over by an ambulance hijacked by Nebbercracker, and the trio is surprised to see he arrives home alive, but with his arm in a sling. As they make a plan to kill the house, Chowder provides a dummy filled with cold medicine that should cause the house to sleep long enough for them to douse the furnace. The cops wrongfully place the trio in the police car while they examine the house.
Role in the Film:
They begin to find out why Nebbercracker did this to his wife until DJ accidentally falls onto the body and screams in terror as it cracks open to reveal a skeleton. As Jenny and Chowder have been captured by bedsprings (which is like tentacles) and pipes that look like snakes hanging, DJ walks up the basement stairs until the stairs start to attack him as he climbs up to the first floor. Jenny forces the house to vomit them outside by grabbing onto its uvula.
During the climax, as Constance tries to eat Nebbercracker, Chowder fights the house off with an excavator, causing it to fall into a pit. DJ and Chowder then continue their job at watching the house until when they see Jenny walking, they both develop huge crushes on her, but to their horror they see her going to Nebbercracker's house. At first, she didn't believe them until the house prepares to eat her. The boys managed to catch her before she is eaten by the house. While Zee leaves and Chowder talks to his dad on the phone (who is worried about him missing), DJ introduces himself to Jenny and he explains of what's been happening.
DJ and Chowder both think that the house is haunted by Mr. Nebbercracker's disappearance, or it is experiencing poltergeist activity. After destroying the furnace in the GameBoy Advance version of the game, DJ, Chowder, and Jenny must escape from the house before it explodes, while in the DS version, they end up having to deal with the house directly, with the lawn serving as a battle arena. Jenny and DJ express their fears about numerous kids going up to Nebbercracker's house that evening. One of the boards that make up the stairs dribbles the ball, putting a jack-o-lantern depiction on it, invoking concern in Chowder as well. At first glance the impressive computer animation and involvement of Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis would seem promising.

When DJ ventures onto Mr. Nebbercracker’s lawn to retrieve a basketball, the scowling old man accosts him and promptly keels over. The house sees its caretaker carted off, which inflames its already seething anger. It also represents, to the technology nerds in the audience, an interesting refinement of animation techniques.
Chowder then fights off many monsters consisting of gas tanks, floor crawlers, and lamps, as well as a large killer pipe. Then traverses a few more corridors and rooms, ultimately encountering two huge pipes. While DJ meets up with Jenny in the basement, Chowder makes his way through a maze of toys in another part of the basement. At the end of the maze, Chowder finds his lost basketball before having to deal with the two massive pipes again.
Chowder paid $28 on a basketball and loses his basketball on Horace's lawn. Chowder wants DJ to recover it, but DJ told him that it doesn't exist anymore. He tries to recover it but is caught by Nebbercracker, who rages at him before apparently suffering a heart attack and being taken away in an ambulance and Chowder heads back home when Zee pulls into DJ's driveway. That night, DJ enlists Chowder's help to investigate the house.
The house soon awakens and attacks them, but they trigger its gag reflex by grabbing its uvula equivalent (a chandelier), forcing it to vomit them outside. After Zee, Jenny's mom, and even the cops dismiss their claims that Nebbercracker's house is haunted, DJ, Chowder, and Jenny go to Reginald "Skull" Skullinski for answers. He tells them that he has heard about human souls taking control of man-made structures, turning them into a rare type of monster, and to defeat the possessed house, they have to attack its heart. Chowder reluctantly steals cold medicine from his dad's pharmacy to put in a dummy that they will feed to the house so they can sneak in and extinguish the furnace. The cops then get eaten by the house as they investigate it themselves; the house then devours their car, though the kids manage to escape.
